What is the SASSA R350 SRD Grant?

This grant was first introduced in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, when millions of people became unemployed. Its purpose was to provide some relief to the economically weaker people.
This assistance amount of R350 is given to those who:
- are unemployed,
- are not availing any other government assistance or pension,
- and who have no other source of income.

2. Apply via WhatsApp

- Type “SRD” and send it and follow the instructions.
3. GovChat or Facebook Messenger
- Apply via the GovChat website or SASSA’s Facebook chatbot service.
4. In-Person
- Apply by visiting your nearest SASSA office (in special cases).
How to check the status?

- Enter your ID and mobile number and submit.
- You will see if your application is “Approved”, “Pending” or “Declined”.
